Kizomba Classes with Brigitte Aucoin
Classes are progressive and ongoing, a new beginner kizomba class is starting October 19th! No experience needed. We have classes foa all levels and abilities. Classes will run for 8 weeks on Wednesdays and Thursdays at the Citadel Community center. We will also be offering intensive training options for students wanting to speed up their learning journey (see below for details)

7:00 to 8:00pm: Multi level Saida training

Whether you are just learning about saidas or are already comfortable with them this is a great class for you. With the help of assistants, I will go over the basic mechanics of the saidas as well as give more advanced variations, including the urban saidas and styling options for both leads and follows. The class will be divided in groups and each will be working on different aspects, dependant on their level. (this class is open to anyone having taken my basic foundation until min the shuffles right up to an advanced level)

8:10 to 9:10pm: Intermediate walk around variations and exploring creativity

An 8 week explorations on the many variations that the walk around opens up to you. From ochos to hooks, to turns, we will have fun exploring this building block of many kiz patterns. We will also explore creativity through explorative exercises. (This class is open to students having minimum of training in open frame at it’s different positions)

9:10 to 9:45pm: Kiz Practice

Open to everyone and is included when registered in any classes *For students taking the whole Wednesday schedule every week during the practice session you will get a 5 to 10 min mini private to give you tips on how to best improve your dancing.

6:30 to 7:30pm: Tarraxo training hips and footwork focused with a sprinkle of playfulness

Learn the foundation of Tarraxo posture, connection, basic steps, footwork as well as many of the hip movements and isolations that will get you started on the dance floor with this dance. We will also explore playfulness that is a big part of this dance through fun exercises. Tarraxo is one of the dances under the Kizomba Umbrella that is more based in isolations. It's fun, playful and sensual.

7:40 to 9pm:Intr to Kizomba: Closed Frame basics

This class is for complete beginners who are interested to learn Kizomba. Learn from a master teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience who has trained with many of the top teachers in the world and is versed in all the different styles under the kizomba umbrella. In this class you will shart learning everything you need to start dancing kizomba in a closed frame, from the 5 basics to rotations, from Saidas to shuffles. All the while understanding the posture connection and walking that is very specific to kizomba, which will not only allow you to learn the basic steps but also be able to start going out dancing and being able to have good feeling dances. This is also the foundation upon which you will be able to build to be able to successfully learn open frame and more advanced movements in the future as well as the different styles and be able to execute them at socials in a way that feels good to your partner.

​Note: This is a complete beginner class that welcomes everyone who has a desire to learn and are open to anyone learning either of the roles.

9:10 to 9:45pm: Kiz Practice

Intensive Training Options
​
Intensive Option 1: Beginner Intensive training: All of the Thursday training and practice from 6:30 to 9:30pm this includes the Tarraxo class as well as the Beginner Kizomba class and Practice, during practice for any student enrolled in the intensive program I will spend 5 to 10 minutes giving them a mini private with feedback on how they can improve. (open to complete beginners)
Intensive Option 2: Intermediate intensive training: All of the Wednesday training and practice from 7 to 9:45pm on Wednesdays. This includes the saida (working on more advanced variations) and walk around class and Practice, during practice for any student enrolled in the intensive program I will spend 5 to 10 minutes giving them a mini private with feedback on how they can improve. (open to more intermediate dancers, who have a good grasp of open frame)
Intensive Option 3: Super intensive training: includes access to all classes and practices for both Wednesday and Thursday as well as a 50% discount on the Touch workshop that will happen in November. This will also include 2 mini privates per week (open to more intermediate dancers, who have a good grasp of open frame)

What classes can you attend?

Complete beginners can attend: Both Thursday classes (seperately or as Intensive training)

Beginners with closed frame training can attend: Wednesday Saida class from 7 to 8pm as well as Thursday classes

Intermediate dancers can attend all classes. The Wednesday and Thursday classes are also a great way to get extra practice and refine what you know to improve your foundation from the ground up. With the right attitude, even a beginner class can be challenging if you give yourself things to work on... and we all know we can keep improving our walk. )
